CHRISHOLM HISTORIC FARMSTEAD: This 17-acre historic property was donated to the park district by Cinergy and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The 1874 Samuel Augspurger farmhouse is being restored and was the home of the leading family of the Amish-Mennonite settlement which existed in this river valley area in the 19th century. Along with the house is a large bank barn and other site features which are being preserved and restored with the help of the Friends of Chrisholm and the Butler County Antique Machinery Club. A variety of educational programs and events occur at Chrisholm throughout the year. Future plans call for the site to be renovated as an educational facility paying tribute to Butler County’s agricultural heritage and the contributions of the Amish-Mennonite settlers. The park grounds are open daily from 8:00 a.m. until dark.  The Augspurger Home is open at select times throughout the summer months or by appointment.  2070 Woodsdale Road, Trenton, Ohio  45067 (in Madison Township)

WOODSDALE REGIONAL: This 84-acre natural area park has been developed under a lease agreement with the Butler County Commissioners. The park features picnic sites and miles of hiking trails through the woods and wetland areas found here. Future plans call for the provision of canoe access to the nearby Great Miami River. The park is open daily from 8:00 a.m. until dark. 1917 Woodsdale Road, Trenton, Ohio  45067 (in Madison Township)

This historic farmstead is a remnant of the Amish Mennonite Settlement that thrived in this area of Butler County from the early 1800’s until the turn of the century. The Friends of Chrisholm continue to work alongside MetroParks of Butler County to enhance the features at this site and offer programs to the residents of Butler County and beyond.

Please help us toward the preservation of the agricultural and Amish Mennonite heritage by using AmazonSmile. Amazon will donate 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to Friends of Chrisholm every time you shop, at no cost to you.
