Mom fell again today and hit her head hard on the floor.
There is blood between her brain & skull. She was careflighted from Atrium to MVH.
They will be sending her to ICU for observation for the night. Another catscan will be done in the morning to see if there is any new blood.

She has fallen 4 times in 4 weeks. We have lots of decisions to make at this time.

Please remember us in your prayers.

Long day, means getting to the hospital in time to see the Doc in Charge!
Gave mom blood 2 pints of blood thru the evening & night to help with the anemia and oxygen level (last night). Feeling better (looks better) and eating now, but very congested. Having a hard time talking.
Now Doc says "pneumonia, but not sure now" (according to X-ray of Monday).  What the hell is that supposed to mean? If she doesn't get better in a couple of days, he will call a lung doctor in.
Yeah, I'm venting. It is tough dealing with elderly parents' Doctors! Her family doc is just now
"warming" up to me. Oh well, I can change that if I have to.

Thanks for listening.

Mom is doing much better. Talking better, looking better & feeling better. Eating now since they gave her Megace (sp). She pretty much refused to eat anything before this treatment.

Lung Doc is doing a broncoscopy (sp) tomorrow morning. Lungs are cloudy according to x-rays.
Hopefully this will help to prevent from further infection and help her get better quicker.

She has some great nurses and PCAs. I did ask one PCA what that meant. She doesn't know. Huh? That's her title but doesn't know?

I apprecate all of the hard work the Atrium staff has done the past couple of weeks.

Prayers are working, so they are still appreciated.  For all of us.

Still waiting on cultures. Might know this afternoon.
Pseudomonal pneumonia and they suspect Mersa (staph infection). Both in the lungs.

To make a long story short...(mom is still at Mt P rehab)

Mom has a fractured T12 in her spine. There is a piece of bone from that fracture touching her spinal cord. Surgeon will not touch that. Afraid of doing more damage. If they did surgery at all it would be from the front. With her other conditions, major surgery is out of the question. Bed rest only now. And with that comes other complications such as, blood clots in the legs, heart attack, pneumonia, etc. etc. etc.

It is tough on everyone right now. Prayers are still needed and appreciated.
Thank you.

A few lines from God on the Mountain: Life is easy when you're up on the mountain, and you've got peace like you've never known.  But it's down in the valley of trials and temptations, that's when faith is really put to the test.

Please be encouraged and know that your friends, and even those you don't know are touched by your compassion for your mother, and that calling on your community for prayer is a wonderful testimony about faith and the power of prayer.  Blessings!
